Google May End Up In Court! Enraged Webmasters Demand SideWiki Comment Blocker!

From: Catalin Ionescu

Date: Saturday, October 3 2009

If you have any kind of blog or website this may be the most important message you will ever read. Here’s why…

On September 22, 2009 Google has released an update to their popular toolbar that is already used by tens of millions of people everywhere and more are downloading it every day.

In this update they added a new feature called SideWiki.

In short, and without getting too technical, this new feature allows anyone with just their browser and this toolbar from Google to post public comments on your site. These comments are then seen in a left-side pane in your site by any visitor that has the toolbar installed.

Like this…

SideWiki Comments on Microsoft's Site

This screenshot was taken on October 3, 2009 and is from Microsoft’s website. It shows comments left by random surfers on their site.

Notice the second comment I highlighted for your convenience?

An upset customer is bitching about one of Microsoft's products, right on Microsoft’s website.

Any visitor can see it just as they arrive there.

What kind of harm a comment like this – or worse – seen by surfers on your site will do to you?

But wait, there’s more. Another example…

SideWiki Comments on Google's Website

This screenshot was also taken on October 3, 2009 as I was browsing Google’s own website. Ain’t it fun?

In the third comment I highlighted above for your convenience you can notice how...

A visitor is telling everybody his opinion about Google’s SideWiki, right on Google.com.

Now instead of google.com or microsoft.com picture your website. You sell an eBook or two you’ve written. And you do quite well... until one day you start noticing your sales have dropped to almost 0...

When you check your website you see a SideWiki message left by an anonymous visitor more than a week ago, which was seen by thousands of visitors.

The message reads:Do not buy any of his eBooks. I’ve paid for them but never received anything. I’m now taking my refund request straight to my bank for a chargeback, since he never answered my emails either.

It doesn’t even matter if it’s true or not. The simple fact that it’s there, staring right in the face of your prospect as she browses your site ready to buy, will have some effect on her decision to buy. Don’t you agree?

SideWiki was created and now you, the owner of the site who paid out of your own pocket for the domain and hosting, who work so hard to promote it, to maintain a good image and reputation have no say over the comments left by your visitors.

There is no opting out. No moderation queue for the comments, which you can approve later.

They’re on your site for anyone to see right the second they are created, and if you notice them fast enough, there’s a button you can press and pray someone at Google HQ will see your desperate cry for help and will delete them.

Question is...

Are you prepared to spend 24 hours each day verifying all your sites, each page on each site, for comments like these?

This new tool makes it child's play for anyone to come along and siphon off your traffic that you worked hard to build.

ANY visitor, including your fiercest competitor, can put on your own site one or more messages that say "This site is crap, come to my site."

Heck, someone determined enough can easily create hundreds of comments on each of your web pages for the sole purpose to destroy your online reputation. Or business. Or both. For fun. Just because he can.

And it's not something bound to happen in some distant future. You’ve just seen screenshots of some of the biggest companies online, and you’ve read the comments surfers left there.

There's no technology involved in this. Any person with just their browser and the toolbar can do it. Just like with email spam, and with blog comment spam, there's no question if it will happen to you. The only question is when...

If even these huge corporations, with all the money and army of employees at their disposal, still can’t keep it under control…

... think it can’t or won’t happen to you? Think again...

"It's a brilliant script, a great idea."

I've got this installed on nearly all my websites now.

It's a brilliant script, a great idea.

It's definitely worth it. Who would want your website - potentially your entire business - ruined due to spam/silly comments written on SideWiki?

I wouldn't, hence would recommend this tool to everyone.

This very moment I am receiving emails from online business owners such as you that see their revenue reduced to dust because of the comments on their sites. The harm is real, and is happening as we speak.

What you’ve just seen above is solid, undeniable proof the threat is very real. Isn’t it so?
But if you’re still not convinced why don’t you take a few minutes and check a few popular webmaster forums. What you will see is thousands of rabid webmasters that are so furious they are threatening even with legal action.

Still, it can take weeks if not months before Google will make changes to their toolbar and offer some kind of comment moderation, or give you an opt-out procedure you can apply on your sites. If they will make any changes, that is...

Until then, there’s another solution that puts you back in control of your site...

... and is now available to install with little to no effort or time.

This application I have created, it has been designed to be fully compatible with absolutely any kind of site, server or programming language.

It works with plain text HTML sites, with PHP blogs, with forums and many others… It even works with exotic sites that run Ruby on Rails or Perl.

No matter how the pages on your site are created, and no matter if your site is hosted on a Linux or Windows server, as long as you’re able to add a small piece of text to your pages, SideWiki Comment Blocker will work for you.

And because of the way it was designed, it should have no influence on your site ranking in the search engines, or to the performance of your server.

What's more, it doesn't lock your site for those that have the toolbar installed. They can still see and interact with your site, they can even add their own Sidewiki comments if they wish...

... only nobody will be able to see their comments on your site...

"Don't let Google hijack your site. Get this..."

I was/am a beta tester for this script and it's on most of my sites now. I don't have to worry about Sidewiki sabotage, spam or hijacking comments from my blogs anymore. This script is as easy to install as it gets and works .... what more could you want?

Don't let Google hijack your site. Get this.

Truth is, it is technically impossible to prevent visitors from leaving SideWiki comments on your site, or any site. They don’t even have to come to your site to leave comments.

However even if they can add comments, SideWiki Blocker prevents these comments from being seen by your visitors and potential customers on your site.

Fair warning:

Google may update their toolbar and offer an opt-out procedure, making my application obsolete. Or they can disable this application from working. It may happen in a week from now, or in 6 months down the road.

Question is... are you going to wait all this time and see what their next move is, watching your sites like a hawk for any nasties that are going to show up, or would you rather focus on your business and let SideWiki Comment Blocker do the watching for you?

What SideWiki Comment Blocker does is create a sandboxed version of your site to each individual visitor, which is only visible to him and nobody else. Any comment they leave using this SideWiki technology stays in their own sandbox.

When they leave or even when they reload the page, any comment they may have left is no longer visible on your site, even to person that wrote that comment.

Even if they copy the link to their sandbox from the browser address bar and share it, others will be unable to see the comments they left.

This is only one of the carefully designed features unique to SideWiki Blocker, and it effectively prevents your visitors from publicly sharing their graffiti like comments on your site. Your site stays protected no matter what they're up to.

You won't find any cloaking used to perform this magic, that could get you banned from search engines. There aren't any shady or barely legal techniques used to make the application...

What you will find are bits and pieces of code that can be commonly found on thousands of large and small web sites out there, cleverly picked and put together to make this work.

"This only takes a couple of minutes to implement so you will use it"

No pressure here, no scare tactics just the facts. Buy this and save yourself a lot of problems. Save your self some embarrassment, loss of sleep and loss of money.

If you don't believe me and if you don't know why I'm saying this after all the talk about this subject then I can't convince you.

Buy it, Use it. That's my recommendation.

George Wright

P.S. Everyone is always saying "I buy so much stuff that I never use." Well, not this time. This only takes a couple of minutes to implement so you will use it. It's not just another HardDrive dust trap.

But wait, there's more...

What good is an application that works, but is so complicated that nobody is able to install, right?

Can you use your email client to write an email? Then you can probably install SideWiki Comment Blocker on all your sites in minutes.

And if some of your sites happen to be WordPress blogs, this application comes with a WordPress native plugin (but you can install this application even if you don’t own a blog) that makes installing it on any blog a breeze.

If you've just had enough of them, you can show all surfers that have the toolbar installed SideWiki like messages, telling them... pretty much anything you like, such as ... your site is protected and does not accept SideWiki comments.

Even though this application is so easy to install even a kid could do it, inside the package you will find an User Manual in PDF format with 11 pages filled with pictures and step by step instructions specific for your particular type of site, whether it's static HTML, a WordPress blog, or any other dynamic site.

Advanced users have specially highlighted sections they can follow for more flexibility in the installation and extra options they can configure.

Last but not least, SideWiki Blocker comes with free updates for life and full support from the same person that wrote it in the first place, that does programming for a living. I do not outsource or outtask my support. All email is personally handled and answered by me, often within the hour I got it (when I'm not sleeping).

"His "free updates for life" and "full support" will be honored in a timely way. Sounds like a sure bet to me."

I recently had the pleasure of "meeting" Catalin and I can tell you, he's the real deal -- a stand-up kind of guy. He went out of his way to lend a helping hand, not just once, but a couple of times without even being asked. Catalin even brought another issue to my attention that I wasn't aware of, allowing me to take action to remedy the situation.

I feel confident in knowing that his "free updates for life" and "full support" will be honored in a timely way. Sounds like a sure bet to me.

So how much is all this going to cost you? I could probably ask for even $100 if not more, and you'd probably pay without thinking twice if you value your sites and your business at all, right?

To be completely honest, I'm not much of a sales person, so I'm not going to ask for such an outrageous - but perfectly justified - price. At some point it even crossed my mind to simply give it away for free. Only you see...

... I'm a programmer, that's what I'm good at and that's what I do for a living.

After thinking for a while, and only because I'd like so much to see an end to the comment spam, I've decided to give this away for only $27. Less than the price of a lunch is a more than reasonable price to pay to get back the control of your sites, don't you agree?more detail...
